If you’re strapped for cash or just trying to be smarter with your money, we’ve got some top tips for you. We all know that dining out can be expensive, but there are ways to enjoy a mid-week meal or try a hot new restaurant without blowing the budget.

Seek out special offers – OpenTable‘s special offers can save you money at top restaurants across the UK, offering everything from a free dessert or glass of fizz to a whopping 50% off your food bill. So if you’re making plans for the weekend, use our website or app to find the ultimate bottomless brunch deal, cut-price afternoon tea, or a bargain set menu at a celeb chef restaurant.

Dine off-peak – Dine early, dine late, or go for lunch and you’ll benefit from wallet-friendly set menus. For example, you can enjoy a 3-course lunch for under £30 a head at Hawksmoor, Frenchie and Gymkhana, or for just £19 at the superb Oldroyd in Islington. Lots of restaurants offer discounts earlier in the week when they’re quieter, so it’s worth searching for deals if you don’t fancy cooking on a Monday or Tuesday.

Follow your faves – Be the first to know about special offers, Happy Hour deals and new set menus by following your favourite restaurants on social media or by signing up to their newsletters. Sure, you’ll add a bit more junk to your inbox but you might pick up some free fizz or money off on your birthday!

Feed the kids for free – Got a gang of little foodies to feed? Kids eat for free all day, every day, at Gordon Ramsay restaurants like Heddon Street Kitchen, Union Street Café and York & Albany. You can also feed them for free at HIX Soho (and Tramshed), Gillray’s, and Smollensky’s at certain times – check the websites or give them a call to check the details.

Try a soft launch – Look out for new restaurants opening in your area – they often run a soft launch where diners pay less (sometimes up to 50% off food) during the opening weeks. If you’re in London, Hot Dinners has all the info you need about new restaurants and their soft launch offers.

Rack up the rewards – When you book using the OpenTable website or app, you earn 100 Dining Points per reservation (or 1,000 at certain times and venues). Once you’ve collected enough points, you can redeem them for a Dining Cheque or an OpenTable Gift card. It also pays to check if your favourite restaurants have a loyalty card system that lets you collect points or gives you access to exclusive discounts and events.

Don’t forget to share this via and LinkedIn.
